Laurie Davis, President
Laurie Davis is a licensed social worker and public policy consultant with a number of early childhood clients; also the mom of two Montessori kids.
Scott McConnell, Vice President
Scott is a professor of Educational Psychology and affiliate of the Center for Early Education and Development at the University of Minnesota, where he teaches and conducts research on early childhood development and intervention programs. He\\''s worked in and around preschool programs for many years, and his children attended Montessori schools.
Kevin Myren, Treasurer
Kevin is a certified public accountant. He currently serves as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Administration at CommonBond Communities – the largest non-profit provider of affordable housing in the Midwest, headquartered in St. Paul. His son is an alum of Mayflower.
Nicole Olson, member
Nicole Olson is the administrator at the Montessori Training Center of St. Paul. She is the parent of a child at MECC and holds her AMI Montessori Primary degree as well as a M.Ed from Loyola University.
Syd Williams, member
Syd is the parent of a kindergartner. He serves as VP of Client Services and Sales Operations and has an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota.
Erik Williamsen, member
Erik is an attorney focusing on tenant rights and a parent of two MECC students.
Committees of the Board of Directors
Marketing
The purpose of the Marketing committee is to coordinate the school’s marketing efforts, including design of all marketing materials, website, articles/ads in newspapers, yellow pages and internet
Parent Involvement
The Parent Involvement Committee facilitates and encourages parent participatin in school projects and events. We strive to build a sense of community among our families. This committee oversees and coordinates various activities and acts as hosts at school functions (open houses, orientations, parent workshops, family social events).
Development
The Development Committee coordinates all fundraising efforts for MECC. It sets policies for receiving gifts an conducting fundraising. In consultation with the director of the school, it recommends to the board annual priorities for use of funds according to the school’s mission and plans. This committee approves all fundraising events, and may appoint ad hoc committees to implement specific events.
Building and Grounds
Develops master plan for MECC’s use of building and grounds with the staff and outside consultants for board approval; oversees major projects (i.e. gardens, bathroom rennovation) in coordination with Mayflower Church.
