Tuition Assistance

We welcome the opportunity to provide financial support where possible to help families send their children to our school. In 2015-16, over 25% of all Mayflower families receive some type of tuition assistance. In 2016-17, we expect to raise that percentage. Tuition Assistance is  available to all families that qualify to the extent that funds are available. Because families’ financial status can change from year to year, families must reapply for tuition assistance every year.

Every family’s financial situation is unique. While the main criterion for tuition assistance is financial need, other criteria considered include families who are receiving assistance who continue to demonstrate need, siblings of current students, family size, unusual expenses, returning families who demonstrate need for the first time, and new families.

MECC expects families to finance their children’s education to the extent that they can. Tuition assistance applications are reviewed by the Director and a Tuition Assistance committee, comprised of the Business Manager and members of the Board of Directors. All information is confidential. The amount of tuition assistance you ask for may be greater than we can offer, even for qualifying families. If we do not have assistance available when initial awards are made, you will be placed on a waiting list. If money becomes available later, you will receive notification of your award at that time.

We require that all families who apply for Tuition Assistance at MECC call the Child Care Assistance Program to see if they qualify for help paying for childcare. Some families qualify for a sliding scale payment system; other families qualify for almost their entire tuition. Most often, however, families are put on a wait list, and it may take several months for them to move to the top of that wait list.  Information on this process will be provided to you when we notify you of your Tuition Assistance Award.

To apply, please submit the following:

  • MECC Tuition Assistance Application
  • Completed Federal Income Tax return from all adults who are responsible for the child’s welfare.

We are currently accepting tuition assistance applications for 2016-17. Awards will be decided upon in the summer of 2016 and the families will be notified by email.
