Board Members

Cynthia Stauffer, Board Chair
Cynthia Stauffer is an insurance broker and mother of two children, both former MECC students.

Beth Kittelson, Treasurer
Beth Kittelson works in inclusion at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, having spent the
majority of her career in finance. She is a member of Mayflower Church and studied economics
and journalism at the University of Minnesota.

Sally Bauer, member
Sally Bauer is the Executive Director of the Tangletown Neighborhood Association. Previously,
she worked in student affairs at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and The Boston
Conservatory. She holds a Masters Degree in Educational Policy and Administration from the
University of Minnesota. She has two daughters, one of whom attends a Montessori school in
Saint Paul.

Peter Hendrixson, member
Peter Hendrixson is a retired trial lawyer and Managing Partner of Dorsey and Whitney in
Minneapolis, where he has lived most of the last 36 years. He is a long time member of Mayflower
Church and was co-chair of the committee that created MECC. He has served on a number of
boards, including LaCreche Early Learning Childhood Center and Children’s Law Center (also
served as interim executive director for CLC) which advocates for foster children.

Barbara Knott, member
Barbara Knott has spent her career in technology sales at Oracle Corporation, working as an
individual contributor directly with clients on their business challenges or in a leadership role
managing a segment of the business. She has an extensive background in general management
and has a passion for career growth and development. She holds a B.A. from Smith
College. Barbara is a mother to a MECC alumna, as well as a current student. Through this
journey, Barbara has discovered a passion for early childhood education and the Montessori

Janette Leslie, member
Janette Leslie earned a B. A. in Justice and Peace Studies at the University of St. Thomas and a
Masters in Education from Loyola University Maryland. She holds two Montessori diplomas the
AMI Assistants to Infancy (0-3) and AMS Early Childhood (3-6). Her daughter is an alumna of

Andrea Roethke, member
Andrea Roethke works in education policy as the Managing Director of Strategy and Operation at
Ed Allies, a local nonprofit that promotes equitable access to great schools. She is the parent of
two children currently enrolled at MECC.

Heather Warweg, member
Heather Warweg has been an early childhood special education teacher for a suburban school
district for more than 15 years. She studied child psychology and early childhood education at the
University of Minnesota where she also pursued her graduate degree in early childhood special
education with an emphasis on parents and families. She, her husband, and two daughters are
members of Mayflower Church where they are drawn to a community with an emphasis on social
